    Visions of Zimbabwe

    Curated by Raphael Chikukwa
    E

Visions of Zimbabwe brings 13 contemporary artists and writers from Zimbabwe to the UK. Curated by one of the leading young African curators Raphael Chikukwa, the exhibition will showcase Zimbabwe's most prestigious and provocative artists and writers. It creates an international platform for the artists to comment on their country's current political and social situation at a time when many of them are subjected to censorship there. The exhibition coincides with the current intense media interest in Zimbabwe created by England’s controversial cricket tour; interest which has extended to scrutiny of Mugabe's leadership and the plight of ordinary Zimbabwean people. Visions of Zimbabwe focuses on the key issues facing Zimbabwe now, including land rights, HIV/AIDS, human rights, freedom of expression and the rule of law. It includes photography, video, installation, sculpture and graphic design, with many works being made especially for the show.
