The inventor of cyberfeminism, author of the first netart generator, initiator of the 'old boys network', hacker of the operating system art guides the audience through her turbulent history. Special focus: art = systematic copyright infringement
The possibility to copy digital data easily and without loss of quality supported a culture and aesthetics, which is substantially coined by the further developments of traditional collage and montage techniques. Everything is being mixed and remixed, completely new genres emerge and one can hardly decide WHO produced WHAT. Attacks against traditional concepts of authorship and original are deliberate. At the same time there is a battle fought about the copyright. 'Copyleft' or better protection of the authors? Who is juridically allowed to use which material for what matters? Why should anybody keep to such rules?
Cornelia Sollfrank discusses these questions and others recurring to examples from the graphic art and music fields and her own works.
Sollfrank is a free artist living in Hamburg, Celle and on the net.
