Rachel Rosalen (Brasil) & Rafael Marchetti (Argentina) present „territórios 23°34' S 46°39' W“, a work that visualises local and global processes of change through a digital mapping of a neighbourhood in São Paulo.
Raphael Perret (CH) shows his project "Paint My Bass - An electromechanical pimp machine" where he experiments with Bass-Shakers that are often used in "pimped" cars.
Jörg Köppl and Mirjam Bürgin (CH) talk about the experimental radio project „Nachtschichten“ ("night shifts") - a book about this project, edited by Köppl, was recently published.

territórios 23°34' S 46°39' W is a site specific urban installation-intervention - thematizing the complexity around the Paulista Avenue. The Paulista Avenue represents the second economic center (knot) ofthe city of São Paulo, in which the downtown is still the first important financial sector and Berrini avenue the third. The approaching processes to these new cartographies are achieved through the new electronic devices, using as key components the mapping, the collect and analysis of this information. It is from the analysis that the measuring and indexation mechanisms generate a data bank to build complex systems of visualization, according to strategies for specific readings needs. In this sense, the habitant or user of large cities are confronted at the begin of the third millennium with the concept of "local" in line with the multiple dynamics of the flux made up from contemporaneous articulations between: global and local, macro and micro. Furthermore, dynamics stimulated by the invasion of stock markets, speculations and the implementation of large scale systems of telecommunication and transport, all under the paradigm of new technologies. Based on the collected data, the items were transformed in audiovisual elements controlled by infrared sensors, related to the flux of people in the interior of the gallery. These images were projected on the external glass façade of the gallery giving back to the urban space aesthetic constructions of its own complexity. At the same time, these images were a deconstruction of the concept of a city "on the post card".

Im Zentrum der Publikation "Nachtschichten" stehen elf Audiokunstwerke, die im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojekts an der Zürcher Hochschule der Künste von elf Künstlerinnen und Künstlern entwickelt und 2006 von Radio LoRa in Zürich
ausgestrahlt wurden. Die Beiträge erkunden neue Methoden und Techniken, um mit extrem langen Werk- und Sendedauern künstlerisch operieren zu können.
Die drei der Publikation beiliegenden CDs enthalten repräsentative Ausschnitte der Radioarbeiten. Werkbeschreibungen geben die wichtigsten Informationen zu Konstruktion und Inhalt der Werke, die Bildbeiträge vermitteln einen Eindruck
von den Arbeitsprozessen. Die Publikation enthält darüber hinaus vier Aufsätze, die die Radioarbeiten unter verschiedenen Gesichtpunkten erörtern und in künstlerische sowie theoretische Zusammenhänge stellen.

Paint My Bass
An electromechanical pimp machine.
Fasziniert von überdimensionierter Technik und den grotesken Zügen ihrer Anwendung erstand ich während eines Arbeitsaufenthaltes in den USA ein paar Bass Shaker. Dies sind leistungsstarke Basslautsprecher welche üblicherweise an ein Automobilchassis geschraubt werden und das Gefährt zum vibrieren bringen. Auf diese Weise wird das gesamte Automobil zur Tonquelle. Verwendung finden diese Lautsprechertypen in Automobil–Tuning Kreisen, welche nicht zu letzt dank der MTV- Sendung „Pimp my Ride“ ein populäres Aushängeschild in der medialen Öffentlichkeit bekam. Im Vordergrund dieser Handwerkskunst steht die inszenierte Aussenwirkung des nicht wieder erkennbaren Mobils.
Werden die, an eine Tonquelle angeschlossenen, Bass Shaker lose auf den Boden gelegt, so vibrieren und bewegen sich diese in unterschiedlichen Richtungen und Mustern je nach Frequenz, Amplitude und Rhythmus der gespielten Bässe. Mit minimalem Aufwand entsteht so ein mobiles Objekt, welches nicht dazu gebaut wurde selbständig, mit anderen Worten auto – mobil zu sein. Mittels eines „kontrapunktischen Détournements“ wirft das Objekt die Frage nach dem Fortschritt alternativer Fortbewegungsmitteln auf. Angetrieben wird es von seinem Konstruktionszweck, der Umwandlung elektronischer Signale in Druckwellen.
